Our last update:) What a busy day!
A few highlights:
As mentioned in last night's update, Jessica and the other contestants had brunch with the former Miss Indiana's. She enjoyed the time and really appreciated the comments from the formers.
The parade was fun - lots of people lined the brick street to see all of the contestants. Abigail and Brionna (her princesses) rode in the convertible with Jess and Sycamore Sam walked along side the car. Sam was a crowd favorite. ISU was the only program out of 6 universities to have their mascot present. We are very fortunate Sam loves the Miss ISUprogram!
After the parade, the contestants signed autographs for an hour. So many people having pictures signed and photos taken - it was fun. Afterwards - we had a great time at the "family and friends lunch" It was a good break for Jess.
The auditorium is always full of excitement for the final night and this evening was not different. It is wonderful to see so many people supporting all of the contestants. Jess's "fan club" was no exception. We estimate that almost 40 people (including her wonderful mom and dad and of course granny) were there supporting her! Plus others that she met throughout the week.
We were excited to see 7 of our former Miss ISUs who are all still playing an active role in the Miss Indiana local programs - in attendance tonight.
Ayanna Sykes - 2012
Maggi Stephens - 2011
Taylor Schaffer - 2010
Carolyne Holcomb - 2009
Kaleena Dale McCormick - 2005
Sarah Tislow - 2004
Amanda Zachary Burns - 2003
In addition our Miss ISU Family members - Delana Pearman - Gloria Cheever and Kristy Dale were in attendance.
Immediately folloiwing the opening number - the announcement of the top 11 was made. We were anxiously awaiting Jessica's name to be called - but alas it was not. We were all disappointed that Jess was not selected but we are so so very proud of her and the way she represents our program and the university. She is a true blue Sycamore.
Our Board of Directors can't thank you all enough for caring about this program and being there to support our students as they serve in the role of Miss Indiana State University.
Jess will be spending time at home in Cambridge City, getting some much needed sleep and home cooked meals! She will continue to study for her upcoming CPA exam as she prepares to begin her position as a staff accountant for Pioneer Oil in Vincennes this fall.
In the Sycamore Spirit~
