Thank you for your support of Ayanna as she begins her week at Miss Indiana! We will be sending out updates each day of competition.
This is the 75th Anniversary for the Miss Indiana Scholarship Program and the 10th year in Zionsville! The Board of Directors have been working hard to make it memorable. Lots of former title holders and special guests will be present at the preliminaries and final night competition.
Moved Ayanna’s competition wardrobe into the Zionsville High School Performing Arts Center. There will be 65 women (Miss and Teen Contestants) sharing the dressing room space! So you only imagine how tight the dressing area is going to be once they all arrive.
We attended the Opening Reception at the Golf Course of Indianapolis. They have a beautiful facility in which the reception is held. The reception was an opportunity for the women to introduce themselves and their platforms. In addition, there were many photo opportunities! Awards for Miracle maker (woman who raised the most for Children’s Miracle Network ) and the Hoosier Leadership Memorial Scholarship. Katie Stam Irk – Miss America 2009 was the keynote speaker. Katie is our only Miss Indiana to become Miss America. Her message was pure and simple to the women competing – “use this week to make connections to everyone you come in contact with whether it be an adult – child – or fellow contestant. Invest yourself in this experience.”
After the reception we moved Ayanna into the Embassy Suites. Her roommate is Kaycie – Miss Ball State University!
Ayanna and the women had dinner at one of the great Zionsville restaurants – Amore’ and then went through a brief orientation before resting up for the busy week.
Today the women will be doing a community service event with the Boys and Girls Club kids. They will then start practice which will last most of the day. This evening they have dinner with the Zionsville Lions Club – who are wonderful supporters of Miss Indiana.
Photos from the events will be posted on the Miss Indiana website
The Final Night of competition will be available (for a small fee) as a webcast – if interested, check this website for further details
